I am excited, nervous, and sad. It is a lot to deal with these emotions. I have prepared for this day by making sure I have all the necessary documents and enjoying time with my friends and family before I left. I also watched youtube and saw videos of people traveling and the enjoyment and growth they also experienced. This made me ponder about my own life and help re-discover my own passion for traveling where it made me re-think the direction I want with my life. This helped me focus on one emotion: excitement. With this emotion in mind, I know this experience will be transformative in my life and make me want to travel more in the world.
Personally, I am most excited about the botanical gardens and parks that I plan to visit. I love the concept of Ecology and to be fortunate enough to be able to go and see an entirely new world is important to me. The botanical gardens will be able to show the diversity that the world has, as one of the museums I plan to visit is home to one of the largest collections of carnivorous plants in the world. I am excited to be able to see the diversity of life in Holland when I go on hikes because of my personal career in Entomology. It will be super cool and neat to see the various insects that inhabit the area.
Overall, I feel prepared to go to Holland. This experience is one that I have been waiting for as it was delayed for me due to COVID-19. On the topic of COVID, to be able to travel to Holland, I know I will re-discover the passion had to explore and see the world. I think COVID took from us the ability to understand what it means to be human and as you travel the world it is so fascinating to see the same human experiences at home expressed in so many different ways in the world. With that, I think traveling is the key to life and to experiencing what it means to be human. The world is ours and people should go out and see what it has to offers.
